The G2 Series turbine flow meters have long been a trusted go-to for many of our customers—and for good reasons. They’re accurate, reliable, and built to last but even the most reliable equipment can hit a snag if small debris gets in the way. If your G2 Series flow meter isn’t reading correctly, it might just need a quick cleaning.

A clean flow path keeps your readings precise, and over time, buildup inside the flow meter can slow things down. The G2 Series flow meter’s serviceable design makes it easy to remove debris and restore accuracy, extending the life of your flow meter - no complicated tools required. (As long as the internal components are not damaged, they can usually be cleaned and reused.)

EXAMPLE: During installation, bits of Teflon™ tape, pipe sealant, or debris can get pushed into the flow meter, especially if the lines weren't fully flushed. This can cause drag on the turbine, leading to inaccurate readings—even on a brand-new flow meter. Instead of ordering a new internal kit, try removing the internals, giving them a good cleaning, and reinstalling them. Often, the problem is as simple as a piece of Teflon tape wrapped around the rotor shaft.

CAUTION: Handle the rotor carefully! Even small scratches or nicks can affect accuracy.

Pro Tip

Each rotor support has three small holes near the center that allow fluid to flow through and keep the thrust bearing lubricated. Spray a little lubricant (like WD-40®) into those holes using the straw attachment to flush out any debris that may be lodged inside.

If cleaning doesn’t do the trick—or the internals are worn or damaged—it might be time to replace them. To stay ahead of the game, we recommend keeping a spare rotor and support replacement kit on hand.
