Fuel to go

This pump works just like fueling at the station. Auto shut off makes it handy and safe. Connection to tank was quick and easy. I installed battery spring clamps for power and installed a lock to keep people honest.

Hi Donald,

We are glad you're up and running with your M-150 series pump, and thank you for the awesome review!

Seems well built

Installed on a 55 gallon drum easily enough and I added my own filter. I have multiple drums, and will move the pump from drum to drum as needed.

Connections are sealed using Teflon tape, and I can see pluses and minuses with that, versus using an o-ring. The plus is that I can always buy more Teflon tape, and I'll never have to go hunting for an o-ring. The minuses are that I'll have to clean up and re-apply the Teflon tape each time I move the pump to a different 55 gallon drum. This won't be an issue if you're leaving the pump in place.

Upon pumping the first time, I pumped into a five gallon fuel jug. When the diesel first came out, it was discolored, probably by storage oil in the pump. Perhaps this is common sense, but they should state in the manual to run a gallon or so of fuel through the pump on first startup, and likely discard the fuel.

I give it four stars because it does seem well built but needs better documentation for starting up the pump.

Hi Michael,

Thank you for your review and comments. With your specific set up, since you're planning to move the pump from drum to drum, it may be beneficial to purchase an extra bung adapter and/or a pump with a spin collar. That may help with your Teflon tap concerns. You'd probably want some sort of plug to help keep the tank/drum sealed off from debris when the pump wasn't installed on it. I'd suggest giving our Live Product Support Team a call at (800) 835-0113. They can better help with suggesting the correct accessories you'd need when moving from drum to drum.

As for running the pump the first time, I wonder if the fuel in the drum had settled some, as the pumps are tested with a clear solvent, and it shouldn't discolor the fuel being pumped. Again, I'd recommend calling our Live Product Support if you have any questions about the solvent or discolored fuel.

Thanks again for your feedback!
